What we keep

Why

Only to run the company: to answer you, to buy from and pay the people we work with, to keep the books, and to meet what the Companies Act, the tax laws and other laws require of us. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Who else handles it

Services that work for us, bound by agreement to keep it safe and use it only for us: the email service that holds our mailbox, our bank, and our accountant. We give information to SARS, the CIPC and other authorities when the law requires it. Some of these services are outside South Africa, and we use them only where the law allows information to go there.

How long

As long as we need it for the reason we have it, and then as long as a law requires: accounting records and the company’s own records for the years the Companies Act and the Tax Administration Act set (generally five to seven). What you write to us is kept while it is useful to answer you and for any follow-up.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted, and only the people who run the company can reach it, behind their own sign-in. If a breach ever touched your information, we would tell you and the Information Regulator.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to how we use it: write on the contact page. How to ask for a record is set out in our PAIA manual. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za).
